Turkish giants Galatasaray S.K. will hold a meeting with Aston Villa this week to negotiate over Egyptian winger Mahmoud Trezeguet, according to reports.

The Egypt international had a successful first season in English football with Aston Villa after guiding them to Premier League safety.

Goals against Crystal Palace and Arsenal were crucial for the Villians’ Premier League survival campaign as they stayed in the fight to avoid relegation until the final matchday last season.

The former Al Ahly man finished his first season with Villa, scoring seven goals and three assists to his name in 41 games for Aston Villa across all competitions.

However, Trezeguet has struggled to find his rhythm with Villa after failing to find the back of the net on ten occasions this season.

Both Anwar El-Ghazi and summer signing Bertrand Traore have been impressing for Villa and seem to have dropped Trezeguet to the bench, who has been suffering from injury lately and also got tested positive for COVID-19.

This led to rumours linking him with a return back to Turkey as he is on of the shortlist of Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim, with Turkish outlet Sporx reporting that The Yellow-Reds will meet with Aston Villa this week to discuss the possibility of signing Trezeguet on loan.

The report added that Trezeguet could be keen on joining Galatasary to play regularly and reunite with Mbaye Diagne, who he formed with a lethal attacking duo during their time together at Kasımpaşa.

Trezeguet had his European breakthrough after enjoying two exceptional seasons with Kasimpasa between 2017 and 2019.

The 26-year-old had netted 25 goals and provided 18 assists in 71 games for the Turkish outfit, earning an £8.75m move to Aston Villa later in the summer.

Galatasaray currently sit third in the Turkish Super Lig table, just two points behind rivals Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe.

The record Turkish champions are keen on bringing the league title back to their club after losing it last season to İstanbul Başakşehir.

The club is currently being coached by legendary Turkish manager Fatih Terim, and it’s not the first time he wanted to sign Trezeguet as his club were linked with a move for the Egyptian before on more than one occasion before he joined Aston Villa.

Galatasaray were also linked with a move with another Egyptian player next January as Zamalek forward Mostafa Mohamed has been proposed to them as a potential reinforcement.
