Thank you for reading the news about Al Ahly respond to Ramadan Sobhi return rumours and now with the details
Dubai – Yasmine El Tohamy – Al Ahly have responded to rumours linking Pyramids FC winger Ramadan Sobhi with a return back to the Reds.
Sobhi had completed a permanent move to Pyramids FC from Huddersfield Town in the summer transfer window, refusing to remain with Al Ahly.
The 23-year-old had spent the last two seasons at his boyhood club Al Ahly on loan from Huddersfield and has managed to rediscover his form.
He signed a five-year contract with Pyramids after turning down offers from Zamalek and European sides, including Serie A outfit Bologna.
Sobhi has yet to produce what was expected of him upon his move to Pyramids, scoring just twice in seven games and was sent off on his debut.
His team had a slow start to the season, winning just two of their opening six league games as they currently sit sixth on the table.
Since his departure, Sobhi has been attacked constantly by the Reds’ fans, with Pyramids’ director Amr Bassiouny saying the winger is psychologically terrorised.
And most recently reports emerged saying that Ramadan has agreed on returning back to Al Ahly and even head coach Pitso Mosimane gave his approval, but the club’s board are the one who rejected the deal.
However, Al Ahly transfer advisor Adly El-Keiy has rubbished all these claims, saying it baseless and it was never discussed.
“There is a lot of talk about this matter recently and it’s baseless,” El-Keiy said.
“Moreover, this matter also ignores the right of Pyramids, after paying tens of millions in shock to the sports community in order to achieve their ambition.
“This is fake news and I do not know its source, but perhaps the source, is journalist Saif Zaher, who was sitting with one of the businessmen who is also an Al Ahly and there was a conversation between them regarding this matter.
“However, there was no discussion at the level of officials inside the club about the player’s return,” he added.
El-Keiy had also defended Al Ahly fans for their attitude towards Ramadan, saying the player is the one who provoked them first.
Ramadan Sobhi is a product of the Al Ahly youth sector and has won many trophies with the Reds, before leaving for Stoke City in 2016.
He returned back on a one-and-a-half loan spell from January 2019 to August 2020, before leaving for Pyramids FC.
