Mr. Trump nominated Mr. Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court

Overseas network on September 27, according to the Associated Press, local time 26, US President Donald Trump announced the nomination of Barrett as the Supreme Court justice.

Coney Barrett, 48, is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and is considered one of the top contenders for the Supreme Court, the Associated Press reported earlier. When then-Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy retired in 2018, Barrett was on the bench. Barrett is an anti-abortion conservative who has long been favored by conservatives.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died of complications from pancreatic cancer on Sept. 18 at the age of 87. Ginsburg’s death has quickly drawn attention from both political parties in the United States to the nomination of a successor. Democrats have called on Republicans to hold off on the nomination until after the 2020 US election, while Mr Trump and the Republicans have insisted on a nomination as soon as possible before the election.
