the little brother of Kodiaq, Karoq and Kamiq

Skoda has just announced on Twitter that the name of its new SUV reserved for the Indian market had just been revealed in the latest press release available online. So it will be Kushaq and here is his silhouette.

Yes indeed, there is a precise nomenclature to be observed when a new vehicle is launched at Skoda. In this case, in the case of a thermal SUV, the name of the vehicle must necessarily begin with a “K” and end with a “Q”.

Kushaq comes from the Sanskrit “Kushak” meaning “emperor”. The builder has allowed himself a little spelling freedom. We do not know if he will succeed in reigning in the market in his category. But welcome all the same to the Kushaq, which expands the range already made up of the Kodiaq family since 2016, the compact Karoq since 2017 and the city dweller Kamiq since 2019. The Enyaq is electric so it does not belong to the family.

So what do we know about this Kushaq? This will be officially unveiled next March and will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform developed for vehicles in the Indian market. In fact, this platform will subsequently be shared by three other vehicles (i.e. 4 in total with the Kushaq). There is therefore little chance that we will one day see this Kushaq arrive at home!

Sadly, the press release doesn’t show much more than Skoda’s Tweet. We can only try to guess the silhouette, apparently quite close to the other models in the range. In terms of format, the MQB-A0 platform is dedicated to the Volkswagen Polo and T-Cross or even the Skoda Kamiq. The Kushaq will therefore be a city dweller!
