Gelsenkirchen – Thursday, January 14th, 2021, 2:05 p.m.

A nostalgia transfer is looming on Schalke.

According to information from “Sportbild” and “Kicker”, the German Bundesliga team is working on the return of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The  Dutch striker is now 37 years old and has already announced the end of his career for summer 2021.

Huntelaar is currently under contract with Ajax Amsterdam, where he mostly acts as a joker, but has scored five goals in ten league games this season.

The  attacker, who scored 126 goals in 240 competitive games for Schalke from 2010 to 2017, is said to have already met with sports director Jochen Schneider.

After Sead Kolasinac, it would be another return of a former star to the traditional club, which is in acute danger of relegation.
