Concerts again at last: Bremen’s organizers dare to restart

Stand date: January 14, 2021.

The  people behind the “Club100” project want to host a total of 40 events in Pier 2 by May. Whether with or without an audience should not play a role.

Live concerts, appearances, shows – for almost a year these could only take place to a limited extent or not at all in Bremen due to the corona pandemic. Since the second lockdown at the latest, the event industry has again been one of the hardest hit by Corona. © The  news is all the more significant that large events will soon take place in Bremen again. Responsible for this is the “Club100”, which has now opened its doors in Pier 2 in Gröpelingen.

Various heads from the Bremen event industry have planned the restart of the live concerts. 20 different clubs, collectives and agencies can now use Pier 2 for their shows. Everyone had submitted a proposal beforehand as to which band should perform – Julia von Wild from the club “Club Amplifier” was part of the jury, which then selected.

It has become a great program. It’s really from really still completely unknown newcomer bands to greats like © The es Uhlmann, Olli Schulz, Madsen, Selig, in between a lot of fine pearls, really also from jazz to heavy metal. ©

A total of 40 dates are scheduled for the end of May. Depending on the corona situation, audiences should also be allowed in the hall under strict hygiene requirements, between 100 and around 500 people. But even if no viewers are allowed, as is currently the case, there is no cancellation – there is always a parallel broadcast on the Internet. Christian Tipke and his production company Sendefähig are responsible for this. “It works in such a way that it is really like a live broadcast only available at the time. You have to buy a ticket for this, because we want the artistic and all the other work behind it to be valued”, so Tipke.

The  “Club100” is supported with around one million euros from the state of Bremen. Economics Senator Kristina Vogt (Die Linke) has already looked at the construction work. She thinks it is important that there is more culture in the city again – and something to be done for a drained industry.

When you see how the sound engineers are back at work for the first time in a year – that means something for the people too. ”

It already starts on Thursday evening, but not with a concert at the premiere, but with a reading by Wladimir Kaminer. © The  online transmission starts at 8 p.m. on the offer’s own website, where tickets for all other dates can also be purchased. Olli Brock, operator of “Pier 2”, is eagerly awaiting the start – but he will only be really happy when the audience is allowed to enter the hall again: “Most of all, I’m looking forward to hearing the first applause here again. That is what I’m missing. ”
